About Mini Sudoku: rules and how it works
Sudoku is the number puzzle in which every row, column and box must contain each digit exactly once. The traditional version uses a 9 by 9 grid, which can feel daunting when you are just starting out. This mini sudoku scales the challenge down to a 6 by 6 grid with the numbers 1 to 6 and six boxes of 2 by 3, so each puzzle is quick and approachable.
The rule is the same as in classic sudoku: each number from 1 to 6 appears once in every row, once in every column and once in every 2×3 box, marked off by thicker lines. Some cells come pre-filled in green and cannot be changed. You fill in the rest with pure logic and no arithmetic; the numbers are simply six different symbols.
Tap an empty cell and pick a number from the keypad below the grid; the × button clears it. If a number repeats in its row, column or box, the cell turns red right away. When the grid matches the solution, a solved message appears, and the new puzzle button generates another random grid. Play on a phone or computer with no download, and offline after your first visit.
Mini Sudoku tips and strategy
- Start with rows, columns or boxes that already have four or five numbers: with so few open cells, the missing ones are easy to spot.
- For each empty cell, rule out every number already in its row, column and box. If only one option is left, fill it in.
- Flip the question around: pick a number and look for the only spot where it fits inside a 2×3 box. Often it has just one possible cell.
- Red only flags repeats; a wrong number that does not clash with anything stays uncolored. If you get stuck, recheck the numbers you placed on a hunch first.
